What a thoughtful husband

Today, while Scott was at the store he made his way back to the fabric department and found some lovely fabric for me. He brought it home and told me it would make a wonderful head cover to add to my stash. Here it is:

Isn't it beautiful. I should be able to get two covers from this piece. Wow what a special husband I have.

Package in the mail

My friend and fellow knitter Laura is destashing and since I don't have a stash yet she sent me a package. It arrived today and in it was:

Thanks a bunch Laura! I feel a creative wave coming on....

Feathers and Fans - update

My Feather and Fan shawl is coming along nicely. I have only had to frog about 3 rows once and I am about to increase to 7 waves per side. It is taking much longer to do a row now, but I think I know the pattern repeats now. Here is what I have done so far:

This is my first time using circulars and my first time doing yarn overs. Scott says it should be done in time to wear next Easter. Hmmm...

Birthday surprises

What a wonderful birthday I had this year! Thirty nine is not so bad when you have people around you that love you and a Father in heaven who guides you.

Scott and I celebrated my birthday this year by installing a new washer and dryer in the bus. They work like a dream! No more laundr-o-mats for us! Yipee =0)

Here is a picture of Scott watching the washer spin:

Then we went to dinner at a little steak house here in town. They are small in size only. There are no menus and the chef/cook comes out from the back (if it is your first time dining there) with a huge slab of meat on a very large cutting board. He explains their dining selections (steak or chicken) and then retreats to the back to prepare what you ask for. The sides were baked potato or sweet potato and salad bar. The dinner was wonderful, but $50 for the two of us was quite steep. Oh well, it was our first (and probably last) time dining there.

At dinner Scott surprised me with a new camera. I have been wanting one for some time now so that I can take pictures for this blog and other group stuff.

So since I have the camera now I can take a picture of the gift my wonderful friend Cathy sent me. She is such a wonderful blessing and truly a gift from God. Here is what she sent.

She sent me a wonderful book and a really neat scarf that she knitted for me.

Prayer Cloth Completed and Other Stuff

Today I mailed off another prayer cloth. I knitted this one in the bee stitch which is not a very common stitch used today.

The pattern is:
Row 1 - K
Row 2 - K1, K1 below
Row 3 - P1, K to last stitch, P1
Row 4 - K1, {K1, K1 below}, repeat {} to last stitch, K1

Here is the result:

Today I started knitting another pair of socks. I dislike starting socks. Needless to say, i went two rounds in one direction and then reversed course and went the other direction. Time to frog a bit.

On a brighter note, I am going to be a grandmother. My birthday is this weekend and I am going to be 39. My son informed me a while back that I am going to be a grandmother. This is the first time I can put it in public though because not everyone knew. Today we found out that it is going to be a boy. Everyone knows now so it is time to start thinking about how to spoil him.

Surprises

My secret pal has surprised me. I cannot be surprised! She did it! She purchased a drop spindle with wool and instructions and had it sent to me. I could not believe it. My husband thinks I am nuts being this happy over a tool, but it is not the tool so much as the fact that she got me just what I wanted and never expected!! Thank you so much pal of mine. I can't wait to find out who you are. I will post a picture as soon as I can.

Weather Blues

This is the 5th of May and it is supposed to be 58 degrees tomorrow for a high with 30 mph winds. Right now it is raining, cold and windy outside. ARRRRGGGGHHHH

I am not sure spring/summer is ever going to get here. Well, maybe I can get some knitting done anyway.

Secret Pal Swap 2nd Package

This weekend was quite a bummer. The weather has been cold and ridiculously windy for months. It is May, for crying out loud, you would think it would be warmer by now. I think this hurricane season is going to be a nightmare! Anyway, Monday I received my second package from my KRSecret Pal. It is wonderful.

I can't wait to knit this yarn up and felt it. Since I haven't done that before it should be an adventure. Thanks Secret Pal!

One more package to go and I find out who you are! I can't wait.
